Botox Cosmetic

Relax and soften those frown lines. Why wait?

botox_logo_2There is no better way to relax, soften, and erase wrinkles caused by facial expression. Botox Cosmetic® is a purified neurotoxin complex that is injected in minute amounts into specifically targeted muscles of facial expression. The muscle then relaxes producing softening and smoothing of targeted wrinkles. Many expression lines totally disappear. The wrinkles slowly reappear over 3-6 months (or longer) as the Botox wears off. Repeat treatments help you stay relaxed and refreshed in appearance.

Botox can be used to achieve the following results:

  • Improve wrinkles of the forehead, frown lines between the eyebrows (your "elevens"), “crow's-feet”, “bunny lines” on the nose, “lipstick” lines of the upper lip, “necklace” lines of the neck
  • Shape and arch the brow; “open up” the eye
  • Improve the “gummy smile”
  • Elevate the corners of the mouth
  • Relax vertical bands of the neck (platysmal bands)

When combined with fillers in the same areas, the persistence of correction is lengthened by 50%.

When combined with other Juvescence™ procedures (Facial Laser Sculpture™, Thermage®, FRAXEL), the results of the surgical procedures are enhanced.

Injectable Fillers

A Great Way To Erase Lines!

Fillers are used to treat wrinkles, restore facial volume, and to enhance and augment lips. Dr. McCune has over 28 years of experience in injecting dermal fillers. Experience you can trust.

The different fillers used in our office are:

Restylane, Perlane, Juverderm Ultra, Juvederm Ultra Plus, Cosmoderm, Cosmoplast

Restylane®, Perlane® and Juvaderm® Ultra and Ultra Plus are FDA approved injectable hyaluronic acid gels that are helpful to soften lines, wrinkles, and scars. They are safe, effective, and longer lasting than collagen.

With Hyaluronic fillers you can:

  • Enhance the volume and definition of the lips
  • Improve or eliminate wrinkles and "lipstick lines"
  • Restore volume to the smile lines from the nose to the mouth
  • Fill in the “marionette lines” – the hollows that form below the corners of the mouth
  • Recreate definition between the lower lids and cheeks
  • Volumize the pillars of the mouth and cheeks
  • Improve depth of scars

No skin test is required. Same day treatment is available. Immediate results are visible. Achieve longer lasting results: 4-6 months. Possibly one year or longer.

Skin Volumizers

Loss of deep facial tissue volume occurs as we age. This allows the face to “deflate” resulting in a thin, hollow appearance over the temples, flattening of the eyebrow ridges with drooping, hollowness under the eyes giving a tired look, flattening of the cheek bones with sagging, deepening of the smile lines, and hollowness around the mouth producing collapse of the lips and a “skeletal” appearance. Fat loss over the back of the hands produces hollowness highlighting the appearance of the tendons and bones.

Skin volumizers can counter this deflation of the skin making your appearance youthful again. The volumizers we use are:

Sculptra®

sculptra_logoSculptra and Sculptra Aesthetic are injectable FDA approved products for enhancement of facial volume in HIV positive patients with facial wasting and in aesthetic patients with facial volume loss respectively. The active agent is poly-L-lactic acid which acts as a collagen biostimulator. Turning on new collagen synthesis results in soft tissue volumetric enhancement producing a more youthful face. Results have been proven to last 18 to 24 months and possibly longer. Dr. McCune is a national trainer for these two products – a testimonial to his knowledge and expertise.

FAMI - Fat Autograft Transfer

Fat can be harvested from selected body sites and reinjected into the face and hands to restore the volume of youth and “reinflate” the skin. The results are dramatic and long-lasting. In many instances, revolumizing the face lifts the brows and cheeks producing a mini-face lift like effect. Treatment can be performed under local anesthesia alone or with intravenous sedation.

FAMI – Fat Autograft Muscle Injection

Dr. McCune was trained personally by the inventor of this technique, Dr. Roger Amar, a French plastic surgeon. He traveled to Dr. Amar's plastic surgery office in Marbella, Spain to receive one-on-one training by the master. In the FAMI technique, fat is harvested and specially processed before being transferred into or in close proximity to the muscles of facial expression. This restores lost volume and increases muscle tone producing a youthful appearance. Results can last five years or longer.

Fat Autograft Transfer

This technique involves the placement of fat into the fatty tissues of the face and hands. Results are similar to FAMI, but may not last as long. This technique is used to restore volume to the lips and hands.

Total Facial Rebalancing

FAMI and Fat Autograft Transfer can be combined with liposculpture to rebalance the face. Lost fat can be replaced restoring volume. Excessive fat that develops in the jowls and over the neck can be removed with liposculpture. The end result is a balanced, volumized youthful appearance.

GentleWaves® Photomodulation

gentlewaves_logo This novel technology is a painless inexpensive way to rejuvenate the skin. A flashing panel of yellow light emitting diodes (LED’s) signals the collagen and elastin producing cells in the skin (fibroblasts) to become energized. This causes the fibroblasts to start manufacturing new collagen and elastin in the dermis. Benefits include improved skin smoothness and texture, reduction in fine lines, and a return of the “healthy glow” to your skin. Brown splotchy discoloration may fade as well.

An exciting extra benefit is that GentleWaves® Photomodulation has been proven to help diminish damage to the skin produced by injuries from acute sunburn, smoking, and other environment injuries. GentleWaves® treatment to an acute sunburn can rapidly eliminate redness and tenderness. Peeling may be eliminated. Less photodamage is produced in the epidermis and dermis. Photoaging can be minimized whether used as an “emergency treatment” for sunburn, a preventative maintenance therapy for the active outdoor lifestyle, or as an active rejuvenator of photodamage you have already developed. GentleWaves® Photomodulation can help you have healthier and nicer looking skin now and in the future.

Finally, GentleWaves® treatment immediately following many of the Juvescence procedures will enhance the visible benefits these procedures can create.

Why wait to try this painless, no downtime, and extremely affordable treatment?

Liposculpture

Dr. McCune has been performing liposculpture since 1990 - Experience matters!

Using very small instruments (microcannulas), liposculpture is a safe procedure to reshape your silhouette. It removes unwanted diet and exercise resistant fat from the face, neck, arms, abdomen, flanks, chest, neck, waistline, buttocks, thighs, calves, and ankles. You will have a few days of downtime and be back to work and your exercise routine before you know it.

Liposculpture is performed under tumescent local anesthesia. Developed in 1985 by Jeffery Klein, M.D., a dermasurgeon, this local anesthetic technique is proven to be the safest way to undergo liposuction – whether in an office-based facility, an ambulatory surgical center, or a hospital. Small microcannulas are inserted into tiny skin incisions through which fat is removed with a vacuum device to permanently change your body silhouette.

Liposculpture – tumescent technique can also be performed under intravenous “twilight” conscious sedation administered by Carol Russell, CRNA in our office-based surgical suite. This provides you with a painless and safe surgical experience without anxiety or awareness.

Thermage® Thermacool-TC™

Tighten Your Skin Without Invasive Surgery

thermage Dr. McCune was one of the first to offer Thermage® treatments to the Kansas City area. He was been selected by the Thermage® company to train other physicians in the procedure.

Thermage® is a FDA approved device that tightens and tones the skin without invasive surgery. It utilizes a high energy radiofrequency generator to create heat in the superficial and deep collagen layers of the skin and underlying fat. This allows the skin to tighten and recontour across treated sites in a three-dimensional fashion. The skin surface is usually not affected producing a no or minimal downtime procedure. The incidence of side effects is rare (less than 4 out of 10,000 procedures), and the safety is high.

Although not as aggressive as invasive lifting procedures, over 90% of patients achieve a positive result after a single Thermage® treatment. The degree of improvement may vary widely and is very unpredictable. Some patients have great results while others experience little or no improvement. Improvement is gradual over 4-6 months. Additional treatments can additively enhance results.

The newest innovation in radiofrequency non-invasive tissue tightening is now available at Kansas City Laser and Dermasurgery Center, P.A. – The Thermage® CPT device. This remarkable advancement in Thermage® technology allows deeper tissue heating with no to mild discomfort. Thermage is FDA approved for treatments of the face, eyelids, and non-facial sites (neck, arms, waist, abdomen, flanks, buttocks, thighs) for non-invasive tissue tightening.

Visit Thermage® for additional information on Thermage® Treatments and the new CPT device.
